2017 Framatome citizenship: serving our neighbors, fueling our future

For more than 60 years, our employees have demonstrated their commitment and willingness to lend a hand near our hometowns, and 2017 was no different. Our people care. And they back that up with action by volunteering in their communities and giving generously to organizations that provide critical services to our neighbors in need.

Last year, the company and hundreds of our generous employees contributed more than $666,000 and nearly 2,000 hours of community service, directly impacting more than 400 organizations and thousands of individuals in our hometowns. We look forward to continuing our partnerships with our neighbors in 2018, and working together to make our communities a better place to live.

Our employees also bring the same commitment to safety and performance when doing their jobs in the nuclear energy industry, to the work they do in the communities surrounding our North American locations. Though our name changed earlier this year, we are still the same company with the same experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate people.

“As a local business, Framatome has a social responsibility to be active in our communities, cultivating relationships and partnerships to enhance the lives of our employees and our neighbors,” said Gary Mignogna, President and CEO of Framatome Inc. “The impact of our employees’ compassion and generosity can be felt in communities near all of the Framatome locations, as well as our customers’ sites.”

You’ll see from the figures in the graphic, our employees made positive impacts in our communities, fueling the future for the next generation of clean energy advocates and their technological contributions, while recognizing the present needs of neighbors and friends. Employees further demonstrated their commitment to charitable organizations and advancing education through year-round initiatives and activities such as coaching First Lego League teams, building Bikes for Tikes, judging local school science fairs, and hosting National Nuclear Science Week activities.

Last year the company continued support for schools and community organizations that promote the growth of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education opportunities for our local youth like the Delta High School in Pasco, Wash., Charlotte Early Engineering College, Central Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Technology, and Beacon of Hope in Lynchburg, Va., along with charitable organizations that provide critical services to our neighbors in need including the Columbia Basin Veterans Coalition and multiple United Way organizations.

Framatome also proudly supported organizations that enrich the culture of our communities including the Academy Center of the Arts and Amazement Square in downtown Lynchburg, Va., the Mint Museum in Charlotte, N.C., and the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Va. Patronage in these areas improves overall quality of life, helping us to attract and retain highly-skilled and talented employees that are the heart of our company.

Being socially responsible means doing what we can to improve quality of life for neighbors and ourselves. That is how Framatome delivers on the promise to help secure the future for the next generation.
